Department Quality Assurance

The quality assurance department supports the development of reliable embedded software and hardware systems. Embedded systems often carry out safety-critical functions and thus need to operate error-tolerant and fail-safe even in unexpected scenarios. Maintaining high quality standards and conformity with industry-specific norms are thus of prime importance in the development of embedded systems.

The three research units Review and Assessment, Test, and Verification offer their clients a variety of methods and tools for quality assurance in the development process and support clients with the certification of their systems.

Researchers at Fraunhofer FIRST enjoy an excellent reputation for their expertise regarding the verification of safety-critical systems and model-based testing. The department has a research focus on methods for formalizing and automating quality assurance in order to facilitate quality assurance as early and abstractly as possible.
