Department Systems Architecture
Fraunhofer FIRST / Institute
The systems architecture department ensures that embedded systems are designed in a safe and efficient manner in spite of increasing complexity and distribution. It aims at developing technologies for complex system architectures that meet high requirements on robustness, reliability, and real-time capability while at the same time remaining fail-safe and efficient. For this purpose, researchers are using technologies such as multi-core processing and are developing real-time-capable algorithms that are tailored specifically to a respective hardware.
The department offers competent assistance and comprehensive advice for their clients on the introduction of multi-core architectures, the selection of methods and tools for the development of complex system architectures as well as the development and licensing of components for efficient embedded systems, e.g. for media servers. The department is structured into three research units: Embedded Multi-Core, Interaction Technologies, and Distributed Embedded Systems.
