MWC 2013: M2M solutions and Facebook app for joyn

News from Feb. 06, 2013

Researchers of the Competence Center NGNI (Next Generation Network Infrastructures) will present M2M solutions for an intelligent home and a joyn app for sharing Facebook photos at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The researchers will show M2M applications for the smart home on the OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) Demo Day. They will demonstrate, among other things, how household appliances and lamps can be turned on and off remotely or even fully automated. The scenarios are based on NGNI’s OpenMTC platform. The platform consists of M2M sensors and actuators, an M2M gateway with sensor-to-SIP translation, a generic event enabler with location and M2M mash-ups, and an IMS infrastructure. The OMA Day will take place on February 27 from 3 pm to 7 pm in hall 8/ Theater C.

From February 25 to 28, the researchers will also present an Android app for joyn, a new mobile communication service also known as RCS-e (rich communication services – enhanced), at the Deutsche Telekom stand in Hall 3 Stand 3C114. With joyn, calls can be enriched by using a mobile camera for live video sharing to create a multi-media experience, users can easily chat with friends and groups and share photos and files during the chat. With the app from Fraunhofer FOKUS, users can now share pictures from their Facebook page via joyn with other joyn users. Based on the joyn Application Programming Interface (API) of Developer Garden, the developer ecosystem of Deutsche Telekom, NGNI has developed a connector that establishes a link between Facebook and RCS-e.

We are looking forward to your visit!
