MOTION researchers publish paper on Open Data platform

News from Aug. 11, 2012

MOTION researchers have published a paper on the Open Data (OD) platform in the proceedings of the IEEE International Workshop on Methods for Establishing Trust with Open Data (METHOD 2012), collocated with COMPSAC 2012. The paper “Identification and Utilization of Components for a linked Open Data Platform” by FOKUS researchers Evanela Lapi, Nikolay Tcholtchev, Louay Bassbouss, Florian Marienfeld, and Ina Schieferdecker focuses on their experience from the integration of components that should constitute an OD platform.

The proposed solution is able to store datasets as linked data, to catalogue the datasets, and provides a portal with features for supporting community activities. Further, the utilization of the proposed platform is presented, by describing a touristic city guide web mashup that uses published Open Data. This application consumes data in machine readable format over APIs provided by the OD platform. The solution described in the paper has successfully been put to test with the launch of the Berlin Open Data platform.
