FOKUS FUSECO Forum 2013: Reliable broadband networks despite rapidly increasing data volume

News from Aug. 28, 2013

In the near future the need for vast data traffic via stationary and mobile broadband networks will continue to increase rapidly while cost pressure remains high. Fraunhofer FOKUS presents a new software-toolkit OpenSDNCore for future broadband communication.

In the near future the need for vast data traffic via stationary and mobile broadband networks will continue to increase rapidly while cost pressure remains high. With the help of the OpenSDNCore toolkit the competence center Next Generation Network Infrastructures (NGNI) supports network operators worldwide in order to face these challenges. Utilizing the concepts of “Software Defined Networks” (SDN) and “Network Function Virtualization” (NFV) OpenSDNCore enables an especially flexible and reliable broadband communication for different application areas in smart cities. The first presentation of the OpenSDNCore will take place at the 4th FOKUS FUSECO FORUM on the 28th and 29th of November.
