Prof. Dr. Mandfred Hauswirth assumed his new post on October 1, 2014. Concurrently, he took over the professorship in "distributed open systems" at the Technische Universität Berlin.

Hauswirth previously served as Deputy Director of the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) in Galway, Ireland. DERI is one of the world's largest web research institutions; the members of its Advisory Board include one of the founders of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee. In addition to his position at DERI, Hauswirth also holds a professorship at the National University of Ireland. In his research work, the Austrian engages particularly with the Internet of things, linked data, semantic transmitter networks, and distributed information systems.

Hauswirth obtained his graduate degree in engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) and his doctoral degree in technical sciences from the Vienna University of Technology. From January 2002 until September 2006, he served as Senior Researcher at the École Polytechnique Fédéral de Lausanne (EPFL).

Prof. Dr. Ina Schieferdecker studied mathematical computer science at the Humboldt University Berlin and did her PhD at the Technische Universität Berlin in 1994. Since 1993 she has been working for the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS and has been holding a professorship since 2016 on "Quality Engineering of Open Distributed Systems" at the Technische Universität Berlin. At FOKUS she established the Competence Centers Testing, Interoperability and Performance (TIP), Modeling and Testing (MOTION) as well as the System Quality Center (SQC). Moreover Prof. Dr. Ina Schieferdecker is President of the Association for Software Quality and Further Education (ASQF) and a member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), just to mention a few.

Born in 1952, Gerd Schürmann graduated in computer science from the Technische Universität Berlin in 1978. He was then project manager for a variety of projects at the TU Berlin, the FU Berlin and the Hahn-Meitner Institute for Nuclear Research. In 1989 he joined Fraunhofer FOKUS. In 2012 he was appointed as deputy director of Fraunhofer FOKUS and since March 2015 he is also director of the department Innovation and Technology Transfer.
