FAMIUM – Future Web Technologies and Streaming Media Ecosystem
Multiscreen Advertisement – Platform for Collaborative Multiscreen Applications
We show an End-To-End integration of Ad-insertion based on VAST over multiple Playouts (TV, Desktop, Mobile Browser via HbbTV and DASH).
The multiscreen platform FAMIUM by Fraunhofer FOKUS enables the development of TV applications for multiple screens. The applications are able to detect available devices in the home network automatically and can synchronize each other. Additional information about characters in movies or products in commercials can be conveniently accessed from your tablet or smartphone.
FAMIUM is an end-to-end prototype implementation for early technology evaluation and interoperability testing introduced by Fraunhofer FOKUS’ Competence Center Future Applications and Media (FAME).
FAMIUM supports a great variety of applications for mobile, desktop and connected TVs by facilitating multi-screen presentation, adaptive media streaming, content protection, cross-platform development and content synchronization.
FAMIUM – HTML5 based protected video
Interoperable content protection for Internet delivered video Advanced adaptive streaming use cases in the browser
FAMIUM enables platform-independent multiscreen and rich media applications. Video content is a crucial part and is served by technologies like MPEG-DASH and HbbTV. FAMIUM takes the opportunities of this technologies and enhances it with multiscreen and synchronization capabilities. Using the Encrypted Media Extensions-based CDMi approach (W3C EME), the increasing number of HTML5-based platforms will support playback of protected content, without the need for browser extensions or plugins. Using the Common Encryption (CENC) standard, a common DRM-interoperable encryption is used, to support multiple different DRM systems.
